When customers book more than one service in a single order using the shopping cart, whether a promo code works depends on its type. A fixed value code works if at least one service in the order is eligible. A percentage code only works if every service in the order is eligible.
Promo codes can give either a fixed dollar discount or a percentage discount, and can be set up to apply to one or more services or to all services. This article explains how each type behaves in the shopping cart when customers book a mix of services in one order.
A percentage code can discount several services in one order, but only if all of them are eligible. If even one service in the cart isn't covered by the code, the code fails for the whole order. This includes where an order is edited to add an ineligible service. In tis case the promo code is removed entirely after a warning message is given.
Example: A code gives 10% off Entry tickets only. A customer adds Entry tickets and a Guided tour to their cart. Because the Guided tour isn't eligible, the code can't be applied to the order at all.
To use the code, the customer needs to book the eligible services in a separate order from the other services.
A fixed value code can be applied as long as at least one service in the cart is eligible. Other services in the order don't stop it from working.
The discount comes off the order total once, not once per guest or per service.
Example: A $25 discount code is set up for Entry tickets. A customer books Entry tickets and a Guided tour in one order. The code is accepted because Entry tickets are eligible, and $25 comes off the total price.
Because the discount applies once per order, a fixed value code may under-discount bookings with several guests.
Example: If one entry ticket costs $55, a $55 code works well as "one free entry per group." If the intention is to discount off every person, the code would not be effective.
