How to Use Price Categories to Offer Multiple Pricing Options for Your Services

Price categories allow businesses to offer multiple pricing options for the same service, helping them cater to different customer types or group sizes. Instead of creating separate services for each pricing option, Price Categories let customers choose the appropriate price when booking.

InfoThis feature is only available for multiple booking services, such as tours, classes, and events. It is not available for single booking services like appointments.

Why Use Price Categories?

Price categories help businesses offer structured pricing variations without needing to duplicate services. This feature is commonly used to:

Charge different prices based on age groups (e.g., Adult, Child, Senior).
Offer membership or loyalty pricing (e.g., Member vs. Non-Member rates).
Apply tiered group pricing where customers must book a minimum number of spots to access a discounted rate.

AlertPrice categories are best used for structured pricing differences. If you need promotional pricing, set up a separate promotional service instead.

How to Display a Sale Price

The Display as Sale Price option allows businesses to show a retail price alongside a discounted price, helping with marketing promotions or group package offers.

🔹 When enabled, the booking widget will display:

  • The original (crossed-out) price as the standard rate.
  • The sale price as the new discounted rate.
InfoThis is purely a visual marketing tool and does not function as a dynamic discount system.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Why isn’t my price category appearing in the booking widget?
  • Ensure the service is set to accept online bookings.
  • Confirm that the Price Category is saved under the Pricing section in the General tab.
  • If using a minimum/maximum quantity, check that the booking meets these conditions.
  • How do I set group discounts using price categories?

Use the minimum and maximum quantity settings when creating a price category. For example:

    • A "Small Group Rate" may require at least 4 people per booking.
    • A "Large Group Rate" may only be available for 10+ people.

Customers must meet these conditions to access the discounted pricing.

Can I change the price of a category after bookings have been made?

Yes, but existing bookings will remain at the original price. New bookings will use the updated pricing.

Can I report on bookings made under different price categories?

Yes, reports track which price category was selected for each booking, allowing for revenue and customer breakdown analysis.
