Prevent overlapping schedules

Prevent overlapping schedules

Prevent overlapping schedules

When you offer multiple scheduling options that share the same staff member or resource, Nabooki can automatically close conflicting schedules as soon as one is booked. This guide explains how the feature works and how to turn it on.

What is availability limiting for overlapping schedules?

This feature is designed for businesses that offer services that share a single resource or staff, where only one option can run at a time.

When a customer books one of those options, Nabooki automatically closes any schedules that would conflict with it for the same period. The first booking made determines which remaining options stay open for that day.

For example: A fishing tour operator runs three service options on a single boat.

 Service Options
 Time
 Resources Assigned
 Morning Trip
 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
 Boat One
 Afternoon Trip
 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
 Boat One
 Full-Day Trip
 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
 Boat One

Scenarios when setting is enabled:

  1. If a customer books the Morning Trip, the Afternoon Trip Stays available - but the Full-Day Trip is automatically closed.
  2. If a customer books the Full-Day Trip, the Morning Trip and Afternoon Trip are both automatically closed.

📝 Note: This setting only applies to services that share the same resource/staff availability. It does not apply to single booking services.

Enable availability limiting for overlapping schedules

  1. Go to Inventory > Services > Edit Service
  2. Navigate to the Booking Preferences tab.
  3. Find the Limit availability for overlapping schedules option and select Yes.
  4. 5. Click Update to save your changes.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Why are overlapping bookings still being accepted?
  • Confirm that Overlapping Schedules is enabled in the Booking Preferences tab.
  • Ensure that all competing schedules share the same assigned staff or resource.
  • Check if the service has available capacity—if a service allows multiple bookings, it will remain available until full.
  • What happens if I disable this setting after bookings have been made?

The system will stop preventing overlapping bookings, meaning multiple services may be booked at the same time again. Previously restricted bookings will not be automatically reinstated.

Can I use this feature for services with different durations?

Yes, as long as all schedules use the same staff or resource, the system will block conflicting options once one is booked.
