Types of Agents and Agent Bookings in Nabooki

Agent Types

Nabooki supports two types of agents, each with a different payment model:

Invoice Agents

Invoice agents are trusted partners who are permitted to make bookings without paying upfront. Payment for the booking balance is deferred until after travel or on an agreed schedule.

  1. An accounts receivable (AR) record is raised for each booking.

  2. Payments are recorded against the invoice as they are received.

  3. Outstanding amounts are monitored within the platform to allow for invoicing to the agent outside of the platform.

  4. The platform can produce consolidated statements to allow the operator to issue to for agent payments.

Pre-Paid Agents

Pre-paid agents must pay in full at the time of booking. Payment is enforced either through the online payment gateway or through internal procedures prior to travel. An AR record is still raised to capture any lag on phone or email booking.

Booking Types

Regardless of agent type, there are two fundamental booking methods:

Net Agent Bookings

A net booking is one where the agent's commission is automatically applied as a payment at the time of booking, so the agent only pays the net amount.

  1. Available to all agents who are logged in when making a booking.

  2. Also applies when an operator enters a booking on behalf of a logged-in agent.

  3. Example: $100 service, 10% commission → agent pays $90, with $10 recorded as a commission payment.

Gross Agent Bookings

A gross booking is one where the full price is paid, and the commission is tracked separately for later remittance.

  1. Occurs when a customer books through an agent's shared URL without the agent being logged in. This is sometimes known as an affiliate link

  2. Commission is captured and accounted for at the time of booking but is not deducted from the payment.

  3. The commission is paid to the agent by the operator after the booking is completed.

  4. Credit/deferred payment is generally not available on gross bookings, they must be fully paid at the time.
