Reserve with Google: Guidelines for selecting a valid category for your Google Business Profile

In today’s digital landscape, a properly listed business on Google significantly boosts visibility and directly enhances booking capabilities. "Reserve with Google" lets customers easily make reservations or book appointments through your Google Business Profile. For this feature to be activated and operate effectively, accurately categorising your profile is essential. This guide outlines how to correctly assign categories to your business profile, ensuring it aligns with your offerings and meets online booking requirements.

Whether setting up a new profile or updating an existing one, follow these steps to maximise your business's presence on Google.

Google Business Profile

Your primary category should describe your business as a whole and it should be specific. 

To choose your primary category for your Google Business Profile:

1️⃣ Login to your Google Business Profile. 

1. Navigate to www.google.com/business
2. Click “Sign in” or “Manage now.”
3. Log into your Google account.
4. You will have access to your Google business page as well.

2️⃣ Select Edit profile

3️⃣ Under Business category, choose a primary category from the dropdown menu when you begin to enter your category.

If the category you want isn't available, select a more general category that still accurately describes your business.
