How to connect your Nabooki services to OTAs via Bókun

How to connect your Nabooki services to OTAs via Bókun

Once your experiences are created and activated in Bókun, and your services have been mapped from Nabooki, the final step is to connect your experiences to the booking channels you want to sell through.

This is where your experiences are submitted to booking channels for review and approval.

Step 1: Find an OTA to connect

1️⃣ In Bókun, go to Sales tools > OTAs
2️⃣ Browse the list of available OTA channels such as Viator, GetYourGuide, Airbnb, Klook and more
3️⃣ Click Connect now on the OTA you want to set up

The connection process will vary depending on the OTA. Some allow you to connect instantly by logging in, while others require you to send a proposal and wait for approval.

AlertSome OTAs may require manual approval or contract acceptance before your product is published. You'll see a Contract pending status in Bókun until the connection is active.

Choosing which OTAs to start with

If you’re new to selling through OTAs, we recommend starting with one or two channels only.

Each OTA has its own commission structure and payout timing. If too much demand shifts to OTAs too quickly, this can impact margins and cash flow. Starting slowly gives you time to understand how each channel performs for your business before expanding further.

A common starting point for operators targeting international customers is:

  • Viator, and

  • Either GetYourGuide or Klook

IdeaViator is often a good first option because it connects to your Tripadvisor listing, which is one of the main discovery platforms for tours and experiences.

A note on Viator listing fees

Viator charges a fee to review each new listing. To help manage this:

  • A monthly credit is provided that can be used to submit one new listing

  • If you want to minimise upfront costs, consider starting with a single experience and expanding later

Once you’re comfortable with how commissions, payouts and demand behave, you can add more experiences or connect additional channels.

Completing OTA setup and getting help if needed

When connecting to an OTA, you’ll be guided on screen through any information required to complete the setup. This may include business or banking details, accepting commission terms or providing channel-specific information.

Some steps may take place directly on the OTA’s website rather than inside Bókun. This is normal and expected.

To make it easier to assist if any issues come up, we recommend adding Steve, Nabooki’s integration specialist, as a user or contact within each OTA account where possible. This provides visibility into your OTA setup and helps with troubleshooting if an application is delayed or requires changes.

InfoWhere available add steve.milner@nabooki.com. If you’re unsure where to add a user for a specific OTA, contact support and we can point you in the right direction.

Step 2: Complete the connection process

When you click Connect now for an OTA, the next steps depend on how that OTA handles integrations. Some OTAs use a direct account connection, while others require a contract proposal and approval.

You’ll be guided on screen through the required steps for each OTA.

OTAs with direct account connections

Many larger OTAs require you to create or connect an account on their platform and then set up your experiences directly within that OTA.

While Bókun helps with availability and syncing, each OTA still requires you to complete or create your listings in their own system. The information requested is often similar across platforms, with slight variations.

In most cases, you’ll be asked to:

  • Create or complete experience listings on the OTA

  • Enter titles, descriptions and images

  • Add meeting or pickup details

  • Confirm pricing, policies and availability rules

Because much of this information is reused across channels, we strongly recommend keeping a simple reference document with your final titles, descriptions and key details. This can save significant time when setting up multiple OTAs and helps keep listings consistent.

InfoOnce connected, the status will update to Connected in your OTAs list.

OTAs requiring a contract proposal

Some OTAs and resellers use a contract-based approval process within Bókun.

In these cases:
1️⃣ Click Create a proposal for the OTA
2️⃣ Review the contract details, including:

  • Commission rate
  • Policies
  • Payment terms

3️⃣ Select which experiences to include
4️⃣ Submit the proposal

Once approved:

  • The status will change to Connected

  • Selected experiences will be listed on the OTA

  • Bookings will begin syncing into Nabooki

You can view and manage contracts at any time via Contracts > Marketplace.

For specific steps, see:

For more instrucitons and a full list of OTA integration options, view Bókun's help centre.

Selecting experiences for syncing

After an OTA connection is active and your experiences have been created or completed within that OTA, you’ll confirm which experiences should sync with Bókun.

For most direct-connect OTAs:
1️⃣ Go to Sales tools > OTAs
2️⃣ Find the connected OTA and click Manage
3️⃣ Select the experiences you want to sync
4️⃣ Review the details and click Update

AlertOnly selected experiences will sync availability and bookings back into Nabooki.

What to expect after submitting

Each OTA manages its own review and approval process.

Approval can take time
Some OTAs review listings manually and may request additional information. Approvals can take several days or even weeks, depending on the OTA.

This timeline is controlled by each OTA and sits outside of Nabooki or Bókun.

Once an OTA is live

After an OTA connection is approved and active:

  • Availability is checked in real time with Nabooki

  • Bookings from the OTA sync automatically into your Nabooki calendar

  • No manual updates are required once the connection is live

Changes you make in Nabooki continue to sync with connected OTAs.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Why isn’t my experience showing on the OTA?
Check that your experience has been created and completed on the OTA platform, and that it has been selected to sync in Bókun. For contract-based OTAs, the contract must be approved before it appears live.
Do I need to have an account with each OTA before connecting?
Yes. You need an active account with each OTA you plan to connect to. While some OTAs allow you to create one during the connection process, most require the account to exist first.
How do I know if my OTA connection is active?

Go to Sales tools > OTAs in Bókun. If the status shows as Connected, the connection is live. For contract-based OTAs, you can also check Contracts > Marketplace.

To verify this, selecting the booking widget on your listing of the OTA and check the dates. You can quickly use the blockout function in the Nabooki calendar to ensure availabilty updates in real-time.

Can I connect to multiple OTAs at the same time?
Yes. You can connect your Bókun account to multiple OTAs and distribute the same experiences across all supported channels.
How long does it take to get approved by a Marketplace OTA?
It depends on the OTA. Some respond within a few business days, while others may take longer depending on their internal review process.
Can I edit a contract after it’s been approved?
Yes. You can add or remove experiences, or update terms such as commission or cancellation policy by editing the contract in Bókun. Any changes must be submitted for approval again.
What happens if I change my product details in Nabooki or Bókun?
Changing key details like product name, pricing or duration in Bókun can break the connection with some OTAs.
See: Avoid OTA disconnection when making changes to your products.
Do bookings from OTAs sync automatically with my Nabooki calendar?
Yes. Once your experience is connected and active, bookings made through the OTA will sync into your Nabooki calendar automatically.
Can I disconnect from an OTA later if I no longer want to offer my experiences there?

Yes. You can remove experiences from a contract or disconnect from the OTA via Bókun. Just keep in mind that future bookings may still need to be honoured depending on your cancellation policy.

What if I already list my experiences directly on an OTA?
If you already have listings on an OTA (e.g. Viator or GetYourGuide), connecting through Bókun will allow you to sync availability and receive bookings directly into Nabooki. Simply log into your account instead of creating a new one.
